I have to be honest, when I was told that I had to go to a detox I was so scared. I didn’t know the seriousness of alcohol abuse and what the hazards were of stopping on my own. After talking to other friends who had gone through the same thing I knew that I couldn’t do it alone. The detox protocol that I was put on probably saved my life, I’m so grateful to have come to Sunrise, what a wonderful crew of nurses, techs, cooks, assistants and everyone that I could have left out. This has been the best detox ever. I am coming off a roxi habit that had me nailed to the floor, my life was a total disaster. I finally asked my parents for help and through their research we found Sunrise. I’m so happy that we did, I had been to a hospital based detox years ago, and I was stuck in the pysch ward detoxing with very little medication, as you can imagine it wasn’t much fun… this place is different in the fact that they really do care. The medication kept me from being in withdrawal and I’m glad I didn’t have to go through torture again. Thank you for everything.

I’ve only been here for a few days, but I am feeling right at home. Everyone, including the patients have made me feel at home, everyone was so welcoming, I was shocked. I am here as a result of my binge drinking. I suppose I ended up here because of my lack of control over my binge drinking, which was really brought to the forefront because of my anxiety and depression. Overall, Sunrise was a great experience.

Sunrise has been very good at making me feel comfortable and very relaxed. The difference between Sunrise and other detox places is the medical protocol and the staff. The staff really understands what I am going through, and they were very helpful and made me feel at ease. Also, the food is better here than other places I have been.

My stay at Sunrise has been great, I am leaving tomorrow and am feeling great. The nurses and techs were awesome. I think Sunrise is a superb detox for anyone with a drug problem to come to. The staff really goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. So, to wrap it up it has been a great experience with helpful groups and a place I would tell anyone to come and enjoy their vacation.

Hi, my name is Joe, and I am an addict. I have been abusing prescription painkillers since the age of 16, and for the last 6 years I have been addicted to heroin. About a year ago or more I checked myself into a detox center in New York, where I am from. I didn’t like it. It wasn’t what I expected, at all. I felt like they didn’t educate you enough. So, I left there and went home and relapsed quickly. A year later here I am at Sunrise Detox. What a great place. Everyone here cares, truly cares about how I feel and my recovery. I don’t have a bad word to say. I have enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend this detox to others. In a few words, its like a family here.

My detox has been absolutely by far the most amazing experience of my life, and I know this because I have done detox the hard way, by myself -cold turkey, no weening, no meds, no help. The staff here is amazing and very nice, I also really love the fact that they are all recovering addicts and alcoholics themselves. They know where your coming from and don’t think your just some whining baby trying to get a pity party.

I was having severe anxiety and panic attacks, I was put on Ativan to help control these. It began with a low dose and then it was increased to over 2mg a day. I began having tolerance withdrawl symptoms and didn’t want to go on any higher dose. I tried to taper off myself, but it was too hard. I knew I needed professional help and that is why I came here.
